This handwoven rug, measuring 200 × 100 cm, was created in Morocco’s Midelt region, where Berber weaving traditions are handed down through generations. Made from thick, natural wool, it features a geometric composition of large fields in burnt orange and cool aquamarine green, divided and bordered by deep matte black. A muted pink accent appears at the top edge, while short white fringes finish the design. The dense, matte pile has a soft, tactile texture, and the irregularities in pattern and edge confirm its handmade origin. The structure is robust, with tightly woven sides and securely attached fringes. The rug’s balanced form references modernist abstraction, where geometric discipline meets the primal energy of Berber motifs. The interplay of orange, green, and black evokes North African landscapes, where earth and light create graphic contrasts. The delicate pink at the top edge is like a barely perceptible dawn—a subtle gesture amidst decisive divisions—while irregularities highlight the authenticity of the craft.
