The Moroccan Berber rug, measuring approximately 200 × 300 cm, is handwoven from thick, natural wool by artisans in the Midelt region. Its construction features striking color contrasts: a matte terracotta base is accented with deep navy and cream stripes, alongside geometric motifs including a checkerboard pattern at one end. Color transitions are sharp and deliberate. The plush, soft surface is subtly uneven, finished with short white fringes along the edges. Visible hand-knotting highlights the robustness and authenticity of its craft. The rug’s design speaks a language of contemporary abstraction, while drawing on Berber tradition. The geometry and asymmetry evoke a sense of freedom, and the interplay of warm terracotta with cool navy and cream hints at the landscapes of southern Morocco.
