The Azilal rug (200 × 300 cm) is a handwoven contemporary example of Berber craftsmanship from Morocco. Crafted from thick, plush wool and cotton, it offers a distinctively soft, robust texture. The composition features large, irregular geometric shapes and intersecting lines, with a vivid palette of warm taupe, vibrant fuchsia pink, burnt orange, sage green, deep black, and burgundy and cream accents. Its pile is matte and slightly uneven, highlighting the artisanal weaving, while the edges are finished with hand-knotted natural wool fringes. The rug’s design bridges tradition and modernity. Bold geometric forms and saturated colors evoke abstract paintings, with each detail reflecting the individuality of the artisan. The hand-tied fringes and textured surface add authenticity, and the substantial feel of the wool enhances a sense of comfort and naturalness. The pattern provides a dynamic, visual rhythm, inviting further interpretation without overwhelming the space.
