This large handmade Azilal rug is crafted in the Ouadzem region from natural wool on a cotton warp. Its foundation is a warm ivory tone with a soft, creamy undertone, adorned with Berber-inspired geometric motifs—black, mustard yellow, and teal accents form diamonds, arrows, chevrons, and stylized tree-like shapes. The thick, matte surface highlights the tactile quality of the wool, while the dense weave ensures resilience and flexibility. Hand-knotted fringes finish the edges, reinforcing the artisanal character. The 200 × 300 cm composition strikes a balance between tradition and contemporary design, with no visible signs of wear or restoration. The visual language of the rug tells a story of repetition and spontaneity: geometric patterns create a dynamic rhythm, and natural colors evoke the landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. The plush texture and clearly defined lines suggest the softness of a shaded terrain, where each motif resonates as part of a larger narrative.
