This handwoven Berber rug, measuring 240 × 160 cm, was crafted in the Midelt region of the High Atlas Mountains, using natural wool on a cotton warp. The design features bold, asymmetrical blocks and lines—matte, deep black set against creamy white, accented by clay, amber, and grey tones. The left side presents a strong black field with dynamic stripes and a contrasting light area, while the right side remains a calm, uniform white. Hand-tied natural wool fringes at the shorter edges emphasize the artisanal character. The surface is dense and soft, with a subtly irregular texture typical of handcrafted pieces. The overall aesthetic is contemporary minimalism, with references to mid-century modern and geometric abstraction. The geometric rhythm echoes the landscapes of the Atlas—contrasts of black and white evoke the interplay of shadow and sun-warmed earth.
