This handwoven Moroccan rug, measuring approximately 250 × 150 cm, is a synthesis of contemporary abstraction and traditional craftsmanship from the Midelt region. Crafted entirely from natural wool, its matte, subtly irregular surface and dense, visible weave reveal the artisanal technique. The composition features a warm beige background with a hint of yellow, vertically intersected by two large, irregular cobalt blue geometric forms. The rug is finished with short, hand-tied fringes and gently uneven edges. The dominance of natural tones, balanced proportions, and absence of additional patterns give it a pared-back, modern character, while traditional weaving methods remain evident. The rug’s form and palette evoke the landscapes of the Maghreb—its warm beige recalls desert sands, while the cobalt motifs reference lapis pigments and the North African sky.
