This handwoven Berber rug from Morocco, measuring 250 × 150 cm, is crafted from thick wool pile on a cotton warp. The matte surface and distinctly coarse texture are a result of traditional weaving techniques. The palette is dominated by red—from carmine to orange tones—interrupted by geometric motifs: diamonds and lines rendered in white, black, yellow, pink, purple, and green. A black-and-white zigzag border and fringes of undyed natural wool frame the composition. Asymmetrical placement of motifs and a vibrant interplay of colors lend the rug a dynamic, contemporary feel while referencing Berber heritage. The rug evokes Atlas landscapes and the everyday life of nomads—deep red recalling earthen walls, zigzags suggesting ancient caravan routes, and irregularities in the weave testifying to authentic handcraft.
