This heart-shaped, late 19th-century Viennese ring box exemplifies refined historicist craftsmanship. The main body, formed from transparent, cool blue crystal glass, is meticulously faceted and beveled to amplify the interplay of light across its glossy surfaces. Ornate bands of gilt brass frame both the base and the rim of the lid, displaying repeating neo-rococo floral and rocaille motifs. The box stands elegantly on four intricately cast, gilded brass feet with vegetal ornamentation, while a small clasp secures the hinged lid. Every aspect, from the proportion of its petite form (4 cm high, 6 cm wide and deep) to the attention to decorative detail, reveals a balance of restraint and opulence characteristic of Viennese decorative arts circa 1880–1900. The condition is very good, with no chips or cracks; natural, minor patina adorns the brass elements, and there is no evidence of restoration.
This small object seems to echo the pulse of fin-de-siècle Vienna, an era when artistic invention imbued even everyday items with a sense of ceremony.
