ABOUT PRODUCTID 4688
This Danish highboard from the 1960s is an archetype of Scandinavian modernism, balancing functionality with restrained elegance. The structure is built on a sturdy frame of solid wood, clad in richly grained medium-brown teak veneer. Slender, tapered legs and elongated vertical handles in solid wood emphasize the cabinet’s upright silhouette. The facade features four sliding doors, revealing four adjustable shelves and a universal bar compartment with two fixed shelves and a decorative mirror. Below, nine capacious drawers with sculpted, recessed handles reinforce the piece’s horizontal geometry. The satin-matte finish highlights the natural luster of the wood without excessive gloss. The highboard is preserved in very good condition after careful refreshing, with only minor scratches and professionally restored veneer losses. This cabinet echoes the language of Denmark’s golden age of design – an era when pragmatism met refined craftsmanship. Its serene, expansive form seems to recount a time when order and convenience shaped daily comfort, and the warmth of teak introduced a sense of harmony into the home. Subtle details, such as the sculpted handles and mirrored bar, reflect attention to every gesture, inviting the user to savor the rituals of storage and display. The highboard would work beautifully in living rooms, where it can be paired with a neutral-toned sofa, a low wooden or metal coffee table
