ABOUT PRODUCTID 35011
This yarn painting, crafted by the Huichol community in Mexico and dating from the 1970s, is the result of meticulous manual work and traditional folk technique. The square piece, measuring 60 x 60 cm, is mounted on a flat board with colorful yarn—both synthetic and cotton—adhered using beeswax. The composition features a central stylized peyote cactus surrounded by expressive, anthropomorphic shaman figures and symbolic green hands. The chromatic palette is defined by bold contrasts: deep purple and teal form the background, divided by a wavy line in yellow, red, and blue, while the figures stand out in vibrant yellow, green, red, and orange. Every detail— from the geometric, simplified silhouettes to the spiral layouts of yarn and triple-color frame—reflects a sense of rhythm and symbolism. The surface is slightly matte and textured. The piece is equipped with two metal hooks for hanging. Preserved in very good condition, with minor, localized patina, and no visible damage or restoration. This artwork weaves together the voices of tradition and the spirit of the 1970s—a clear echo of the Mexican folk avant-garde, drawing on ritual, myth, and psychedelic imagination. The spiraling yarn patterns recount a story of the connection between humanity and nature
