This early 20th-century Hutsul milk jug exemplifies the artisanal woodworking traditions of the Carpathian region. Skillfully carved from a single piece of walnut wood, the vessel displays a warm, medium-brown tone with subtle golden undertones, highlighting the natural wood grain. Its surface bears a gentle sheen, indicative of light varnishing or polishing. Decorative deeply incised geometric and botanical motifs, typical of Hutsul folk art, adorn the body, including a symmetrical, pierced triangular pattern on one side that is both ornamental and structurally reinforcing. The borders feature intricately incised linings which frame the composition.
