ABOUT PRODUCTID 42523
This ikebana vase, produced by Zakłady Porcelitu in Chodzież, Poland, in the 1950s and 1960s, embodies a modernist approach to decorative form. Made of porcelain with a smooth, glossy surface, it features an intense, warm red as the primary color, accented by white and cream detailing along the rim. The surface is adorned with hand-drawn, abstract zigzag and loop patterns, characteristic of the playful design language of postwar modernism. The top section is gently recessed and perforated with multiple holes of varying sizes, designed for arranging flowers in the ikebana style. The shape is low and rounded, with harmonious proportions; the underside bears the manufacturer's mark and 'MADE IN POLAND'. The condition is very good, with no visible damage and the decorative pattern and porcelain sheen well preserved. This object carries the spirit of 1960s Polish modernism, a time when designers experimented boldly with color and abstract decoration. The vase seems to whisper stories of an era where function met artistic freedom—the interplay of red and white creates an energetic rhythm, inviting personal interpretation. Its low, rounded silhouette and gently perforated top recall Japanese influences, enthusiastically embraced by Polish design of the mid-20th century. The vase is well suited for display on a sideboard or console in a living room, either as a solo piece or alongside other vessels from the period. When paired with minimalist ceramics, glassware, or raw wood, it introduces a vibrant accent to mid-century modern interiors or eclectic collector’s spaces. Its ikebana function is best highlighted by arranging single branches or asymmetrical compositions, emphasizing the modernist character of this decorative piece.
