This early 20th-century Secessionist ink blotter, crafted from solid brass in Germany, features a warm, subtly muted golden hue with authentic, naturally aged patina that transitions in places to a soft verdigris. Its low, rectangular form is distinguished by rounded corners and a gently domed top, enhanced by intricate Art Nouveau surface decoration: fluid organic lines, stylized leaves, and blossoms that sweep harmoniously across a finely undulating texture. The arched handle, also cast in brass, bears leafy details at each attachment point, seamlessly continuing the overall botanical motif. Both the plate and handle were cast as one piece, with a matte finish subtly highlighted on raised areas where the brass has taken on a gentle sheen from years of use. The bevelled edges of the functional surface reinforce the object's sense of refinement. Traces of age are visible as a delicate greenish patina and soft, natural wear—no significant damage nor repair is noted.
