ABOUT PRODUCTID 18649
This early 20th-century patented inkwell, crafted from solid brass in France, is a refined example of the Art Nouveau movement, distinguished by its organic, undulating silhouette and asymmetrical form. The construction is robust with visible mechanical joints and substantial weight, and the functional details include a centrally positioned round lid that conceals the ink compartment. The upper section features geometric cutouts and two exposed fasteners, while the front is adorned with a delicate, partially preserved floral motif in low relief—a nod to quintessential Art Nouveau ornamentation. The brass, aged to a warm, golden hue, is accentuated with natural patination, darker oxidation in recesses, and scattered surface wear. The finish is largely matte with areas of soft satin; its texture transitions from smooth, unworn panels to more weathered, subtly scratched sections. Surface marks, local abrasions, and discolorations bear witness to the object's age and use; the overall condition is good, preserving authentic structure and uniform wear without signs of recent restoration. The inkwell evokes the voice of its era, when line and motif were not merely decorative but expressive of mood and sensibility. Its sensually flowing contours and botanical ornament seem to recount the story of Parisian studios, where daily purpose dissolved into artful ritual. The patinated gold shimmer of the brass softly breaks the light, and every scratch or shadowed mark silently illustrates the decades that have shaped this object. It does not hide its age—instead, it honors a long record of use, as if keeping careful watch over countless written fragments. This
