ABOUT PRODUCTID 37599
This Biedermeier crystal inkwell from mid-19th-century Austria exemplifies refined yet understated design, characteristic of Central European aesthetics of the period. Crafted circa 1850–1880, it combines clear, faceted crystal glass in a cool, colorless tone with polished brass, now displaying a silvery patina. The geometric, rectangular base with rounded edges and the precise fit of components underscore a pursuit of functional elegance. The hinged lid is adorned with a hand-painted depiction of a dog's head in black, white, and brown with a yellow collar, set beneath convex glass for a subtle three-dimensional effect. The inkwell is preserved in very good condition – both glass and metal are free from damage or significant wear, with original luster intact.
