ABOUT PRODUCTID 17012
This late 19th-century French jewelry box features a cylindrical form crafted from faceted crystal glass and set in gilded brass mounts. Its surface is richly decorated with floral, swirling openwork filigree motifs emblematic of the Neo-Baroque (Rococo Revival) aesthetic popular in the decorative arts at the end of the Victorian era. The structure is supported by three ornate cabriole legs, each articulated with sophisticated scrollwork and curves, enhancing the object's sculptural rhythm. The hinged lid, closing with a metal clasp, incorporates a thick, rounded glass inset, subtly beveled at the edge. The borders of the brass are finely beaded, increasing the sensation of luxury and craftsmanship. Inside, a red silk cushion lines the base, lending a tactile, textural contrast to the glimmering exterior and remaining soft and well-preserved. The faceted crystal refracts light to highlight the golden and warm hues of the mount. The condition is very good for its age, with only minor traces of use on frequently handled areas and a delicate patina on the gilding, with no evidence of modern restoration.
