ABOUT PRODUCTID 1552
This large crystal jewelry box from late 19th-century France exemplifies the decorative artistry of the Belle Époque. Its cool-toned, highly transparent faceted crystal panels are set within a richly ornamented gilt bronze frame. The bronze mounts feature rocaille and botanical motifs, referencing late Rococo and Neoclassical influences, while the four elegantly scrolled feet lend a sense of lightness and poise. Inside, the base is lined with tufted, quilted silk upholstery in a faded, powdery blush pink, marked by gentle signs of age—subtle discoloration and fraying that enhance its antique authenticity. The hinged lid closes with a small clasp, and the box's proportions (height 12 cm, length 15 cm, width 9.4 cm) are well-suited to storing jewelry or keepsakes. The overall condition is very good for its age, with minor signs of use: slight rubbing to the gilding and gentle fading of the interior silk. This box could recount tales of Parisian salons, where the dim glow of lamps danced across its crystal facets. Its form, with fluid lines and gilded accents, evokes a time when ornamentation defined taste and everyday objects were cherished as small works of art. Every mark on the metal and the delicate wear of the silk are silent witnesses to decades past, as if the box was safeguarding the secrets and letters once placed within. Such a piece could be displayed atop a vanity in an eclectic bedroom, beside an Art Nouveau mirror or a period candlestick. It pairs beautifully with pale marble, mahogany, or whitewashed wood, as well as soft textiles like velvet or silk. For a more contemporary setting, it can be combined with minimalist
