This early 20th-century Japanese jewelry chest, crafted during the Meiji period, exemplifies refined oriental design and meticulous craftsmanship. Made of wood finished with deep, reddish-brown lacquer, it presents a smooth, semi-gloss surface. The front is adorned with hand-painted motifs in gold, ochre, and muted silver, depicting flowers, grasses, and landscapes, all framed within stylized fans and geometric borders. Patinated copper fittings with intricate reliefs accentuate the corners, hinges, and central lock plate, highlighting the artisanal quality of the era. Inside, small drawers each feature unique fruit-shaped handles, while the chest stands on subtly shaped feet. A large decorative handle graces the lower drawer, and the characteristic fan motif is displayed on the front. The chest is preserved in very good condition, exhibiting only minor signs of age typical for its vintage, and includes the original key. The form of
