ABOUT PRODUCTID 14587
This Bulgarian ceramic jug or vase, produced in the 1970s for Bŭlgarsko Narodno Tvorchestvo Sofiya, exemplifies small-batch craftsmanship of its era. Its slender, cylindrical body features a gently rounded shoulder and a sturdy handle set high on the neck. The faience surface is coated in a matte, off-white glaze with subtle speckling, accentuating its rustic nature. The upper portion is adorned with hand-applied glaze drips in shaded green and rusty brown, cascading downward in free-flowing streaks that create a vivid, unique composition—hallmarks of 1970s Eastern European design. The surface shifts from matte to semi-gloss where the glazes have pooled, highlighting variations in thickness and texture. The unglazed foot rim reveals the warm, reddish clay beneath. The piece is preserved in excellent condition, free of any signs of use or loss, with the original maker’s sticker still visible on the base. The form and glazing of this jug evoke the freshness of Southeast European studio pottery from the 1970s. Organic drips of color sweep across its silhouette like painted ribbons, capturing a moment of workshop spontaneity. This object quietly recounts a story of blending folk simplicity with fascination for the unpredictable, natural
