ABOUT PRODUCTID 38484
This late 19th-century French water or wine jug, crafted in the spirit of Rococo revival, exemplifies the refined decorative arts of its era. The body is made of colorless, cool-toned cut crystal, distinguished by intricate geometric and fan-shaped engravings that create a striking play of light across its polished surface. The base features a starburst cut, while the rounded, bulbous body tapers elegantly into a slender neck and a pronounced, ornate spout. The handle, also in clear crystal, integrates seamlessly and ergonomically with the form. Crowning the jug is a silver-plated white metal mount, complete with a hinged lid and lavish Rococo-inspired decoration: flowing, asymmetrical scrolls and a stylized iris motif, finished in a subtle, satin-matte patina. The jug is in very good condition—no visible chips, cracks, or repairs, and the metalwork shows only minimal signs of aging, attesting to careful preservation. The form echoes the voice of late 19th-century France—a period when everyday objects were meant to be both functional and quietly theatrical. This crystal jug, with its luminous body and ornate silver lines, tells of a time when the ritual of serving at table was elevated by the interplay of light and craftsmanship. The iris element within the metalwork recalls garden inspirations and the decorative vocabulary of fin de siècle interiors. The jug could be used as a striking centrepiece on a classic console or
