ABOUT PRODUCTID 19643
The Kashima living room set, designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset in 1976, comprises three pieces: a three-seater sofa, a two-seater loveseat, and an armchair. Each element is sheathed in uniform, natural black leather with a semi-matte finish, reflecting a subtle, cool luster with bluish undertones depending on the angle of light. The upholstery across seats, backs, and sides is finished with rhythmic square tufting that softens the otherwise monolithic, cubic silhouette. The deeply cushioned seats—with no visible legs—rest directly on the floor, giving each piece a grounded, substantial presence. Every detail, from the precise stitching to the even leather texture, speaks to the exacting craftsmanship emblematic of late 1970s French modernism. The set has been professionally restored; the leather appears supple and refreshed, with no visible marks, discoloration, or signs of heavy use. It is preserved in excellent condition, fully maintaining its authentic vintage character.
This Kashima sofa, loveseat, and armchair ensemble tell the story of the late 1970s—a period when interiors embraced comfort through soft, low-slung forms. Here, cubic monumentality expresses itself through organic lines and yielding leather
