This 1964 Turkish kilim rug exemplifies the fusion of traditional flatweave technique and the bold aesthetic of mid-century modern design. Crafted from wool on a cotton foundation, the rug measures 335 × 126 cm with an approximate thickness of 1 cm. The color scheme features warm, saturated earth tones: deep terracotta, burnt orange, mustard yellow, muted rose, and subdued mauve, punctuated by black and off-white accents. Large, interlocking hexagons with angular, graphic motifs form the central composition, framed by a stepped zigzag border in black and orange. The matte, flatwoven surface reveals a slightly coarse texture, highlighting the density and tightness of the wool fibers. The kilim remains in excellent condition with no visible stains, holes, or evidence of restoration. Edges are straight, fibers are dense and intact. The rug has been washed and is ready for use. This kilim carries the voice of the 1960s—a period when Anatolian textile heritage met the geometric discipline of modernism.
