This handwoven nomadic kilim from Afghanistan measures approximately 140 by 445 cm, including its distinctive, hand-knotted fringes. Made entirely of wool—both warp and weft—it features a matte, slightly coarse finish, characteristic of traditional regional textiles. The design consists of rhythmically repeating horizontal stripes: deep indigo, brick red, beige, mustard yellow, and olive green create a harmonious sequence. Some stripes remain solid, while others are adorned with geometric motifs—diamonds and stylized hooks—echoing the canon of Central Asian weaving. The flat, dense weave (approx. 360,000 knots/m²) and thickness of about 6 mm reflect both the quality of the material and the precision of craftsmanship. Minor edge unevenness and gentle patina are clear signs of authenticity and handwork. Overall, the kilim is in good condition, with only light traces of use and no major damage or repairs.
