ABOUT PRODUCTID 27658
This ladies' cigarette case, crafted in 1867 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is a refined example of 19th-century decorative art. The case is made from high-grade silver (950/1000), marked with an assay stamp and the silversmith's initials. Its gently curved rectangular silhouette (9 × 4.4 × 1.5 cm) features softly rounded corners and a slim profile. The front is adorned with white, pearlescent enamel, enhanced by a subtle, wavy guilloché pattern that creates a shimmering, opalescent effect. At the center, a hand-painted bouquet of violets in vivid blue and purple tones is accented by green leaves and delicate yellow highlights. A fine cobalt blue enamel border frames the composition, and the whole is finished with a high gloss. The hinged lid closes with a discreet clasp, while the interior is gilded, offering a warm contrast to the cool exterior palette. The case is preserved in very good condition, with no visible damage or significant wear to the enamel or silver, and retains its original finish and components. This piece speaks with the voice of its era, when elegance and refined craftsmanship were intertwined with subtle, personal expression.
