The Osram halogen desk or wall lamp, made in Germany in the 1980s, embodies the principles of late modernism and early postmodernism. Its construction is unified by a deep matte black finish that covers the entire surface – from the rectangular shade, through the pair of long, parallel arms, to the trapezoidal base with pronounced beveled edges. The housing is crafted from steel and aluminum, where cool, smooth metal surfaces are juxtaposed against the subtly textured plastic elements of the fittings. The integrated rectangular switch matches the lamp's monochrome color scheme. The overall silhouette is geometrically pure, completely devoid of embellishment, and unequivocally minimal.
