ABOUT PRODUCTID 2036
The PH 5 pendant lamp is an icon of Danish modernism, designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 for the esteemed manufacturer Louis Poulsen. Its construction features precisely aligned, concentric aluminum shades—three main ones and two smaller diffusers—forming a layered system that reflects and diffuses light. The lamp's signature matte lavender-purple finish is complemented by a crisp white central reflector and uppermost shade, while the black textile cord adds a subtle modern accent. The proportions are harmonious, with a smooth, powder-coated surface across all elements. This piece is preserved in very good vintage condition, with no visible dents or deep scratches and an even lacquer finish—only minor signs of gentle use, characteristic of a well-cared-for original from the 1950s. The PH 5 tells the story of the Scandinavian design revolution, when light was intended to be both functional and quietly present within the interior. Its signature arrangement of shades appears to float in the air, while the lavender tone evokes the softness of a Nordic dusk. This lamp, echoing the voice of its era, speaks of a respect for light and a pursuit of harmony; its structure is architectural poetry, allowing light to disperse softly without disturbing the rhythm of daily life. PH 5 may be suspended above a dining table, where its diffused glow will highlight the natural grain of wood and ceramics, or in a living room above a low mid-century modern sofa. It can be combined with simple, geometric furniture forms, glass, light wood, or a monochromatic textile palette. The
