ABOUT PRODUCTID 36661
This dish, designed by D. Duszniak in the 1960s for the Chodzież porcelain factory, exemplifies Polish modernist design. Its distinctive, teardrop or leaf-like form features elongated, pointed ends and a shallow, gently curved profile, reflecting the aesthetics of mid-century modernism. The base is a warm, pastel yellow painted porcelain with a glossy, smooth surface. A set of dynamic, asymmetrical black stripes runs diagonally across one side, providing a striking graphic contrast to the minimalist form. The edges are thin and delicately finished, and the dish is signed on the underside with the manufacturer’s mark. The condition is very good, with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of wear. This piece radiates the spirit of the 1960s, when Polish design boldly experimented with form and color, creating objects of surprising lightness and freshness. The organic line—reminiscent of a leaf or a drop—evokes the modernist fascination with nature and abstraction. The irregular black stripes ‘speak’ to the energy of the era, when craftsmanship and applied arts gained a new graphic expression while maintaining functionality. The dish can serve as a centerpiece on a living room or kitchen table—perfect for serving small snacks or as a decorative accent. It pairs well with furniture featuring clean lines and muted colors, creating a focal point in mid-century modern or minimalist interiors. It may be combined with ceramics in solid, matte hues or glass in amber tones to highlight its modernist heritage and the subtle luster of its glaze.
