This desk letter holder from the 1920s/30s is an example of refined Art Deco craftsmanship. Its design is built on a rectangular base of polished black marble, streaked with golden-beige veins that highlight the depth and nobility of the stone. Rising from the marble block are three arched dividers made of chrome-plated metal (brass beneath the chrome), their mirrored surfaces catching the light and adding dynamism to the piece. The dividers create two compartments for organizing correspondence, and the entire holder is elevated on four small round feet that protect the desktop. With proportions of 17 × 10 cm and a height of 14 cm, it offers a compact yet striking presence on the desk. Condition: very good; the marble is free from chips or cracks, the chrome elements remain glossy and clean, showing only minimal signs of age. This object evokes the vision of a modernist office from the interwar period, a time when functionality and ornament coexisted in harmony. The shine of chrome and the dark marble tell a story of an era where detail signified status, and the daily ritual of letter writing had its own sense of ceremony. The letter holder seems to whisper: “I remember the sound of the pen on paper and quiet conversations at the desk, when even correspondence was arranged with care for order and style.”The letter holder may be paired with a substantial Art Deco veneered desk or a minimalist dark wood console. It works well in an office, living room, or on an elegant writing table, accompanied by period accessories:
