This Belgian desk letter holder from the 1920s is crafted from semi-translucent green onyx enriched with warm yellowish-brown veining. The stone has been cut into a geometric rectangle, its polished top and edges contrasting with a matte, slightly irregular bottom edge that highlights the natural patina typical of age. Two elegantly arched dividers, made of polished, chromed brass and secured with decorative metal caps, neatly separate documents or correspondence. Slender rods with a lustrous, mirrored surface interact with light and frame the onyx, emphasizing a dialogue between mineral clarity and metallic shine. The entire structure rests on four small, spherical chromed brass feet that subtly elevate the composition. It is preserved in good, unrestored condition with minor abrasions, slight chrome wear and small chips to the onyx at the bottom edge, revealing an unaltered, authentic vintage patina.
