ABOUT PRODUCTID 5985
This Art Deco lidded container was produced in 1930s Czechoslovakia. Its body is crafted from ceramic in a vivid, cool cobalt blue with a glossy finish, emphasizing the geometric, rounded-triangle form—a motif typical of the era’s design. The lid features a cream-colored knob, likely made of bakelite or early plastic, set atop an ornate, embossed metal medallion with floral and geometric motifs. A broad band of metalwork in antique gold encircles the rim, adorned with a repeating acanthus leaf pattern that adds rhythmic decoration and depth. The craftsmanship is evident in the precise details and seamless integration of materials. Measuring 12 × 12 × 7 cm, the piece is compact yet visually striking. Its preservation is very good for its age: natural patina is present on the metal elements, with minor signs of use and interior discoloration, but no cracks or structural damage. This container tells the story of the 1930s, when Art Deco set the pace for everyday objects, infusing them with a sense of luxury and modernity.
