ABOUT PRODUCTID 15415
This antique Swedish bench from the early 20th century exemplifies folk craftsmanship through a bold, sculptural presence. Made predominantly from wood—most likely oak and pine—it is finished in a glossy, deep black lacquer that serves as the primary chromatic foundation. The sides feature stylized lions, hand-carved with pronounced wings and manes, embellished by hand-painted motifs in vibrant gold, muted blue, red, and olive green. These decorative patterns combine swirling lines and geometric, floral-inspired contours, outlined with red and yellow accents. Substantial wooden panels and precise mortise and tenon joinery lend a weighty stability, while the seat and backrest maintain a restrained, functional simplicity—a deliberate counterbalance to the ornate painted sides. Minor traces of gentle use—occasional paint chips and slight scuffs, particularly at the seat’s edge—confirm its authentic, antique character, yet the bench remains fresh and structurally unaltered, with no major restorations. The lacquered finish is well preserved,
