ABOUT PRODUCTID 15651
This Bohemian malachite glass ashtray from Jablonec Glassworks (Czechoslovakia, 1960s) exemplifies Central European mid-century modern with a distinct decorative sensibility. It is crafted from heavy pressed glass with a simulated malachite stone effect: the surface flows between vivid emerald green and lighter, almost translucent jade tones. The ashtray’s geometric outline features regular, faceted edges reminiscent of cut gems, with four gently notched indentations around the rim serving as cigarette rests. The construction displays careful attention to detail: robust, satin-matte walls contrast with subtly gleaming recessed areas, while softly undulating 'cloudy' veining within the glass gives evidence of skilled malachite technique. A thick, solid base ensures stability—this is a functional piece designed for daily use as well as a decorative focal point. The ashtray is preserved in excellent condition, showing no chips, cracks, or repairs and only barely perceptible traces of time.
