This Art Nouveau match holder pedestal, crafted around 1900 in Vienna, exemplifies the refined artistry of turn-of-the-century metalwork. Cast entirely from gilded bronze, it features a wealth of decorative floral reliefs and the flowing, organic lines so characteristic of the Secessionist movement. The rectangular base stands on four splayed feet, harmoniously supporting a delicately curved arm that holds the matchbox mount. The finish presents a warm, golden hue with a natural patina, shifting to a subtle satin sheen in places. Its proportions—12 cm in height, with a 10 × 9 cm base—lend the piece a balanced, collectible scale. Preserved in very good condition, it shows minor signs of use and some gentle wear to the gilding, but no damage or repair.This small object evokes an era when art touched every aspect of daily life.
