The Orno Warsaw mechanical pencil was manufactured between the 1950s and early 1960s by the Orno cooperative, a renowned postwar Polish institution that brought together progressive craftspeople and artists in Warsaw. The pencil’s body is crafted from silver-toned metal with a matte, subtly brushed texture and a natural vintage patina. A rhythmical geometric engraving—comprising lines and sharp V-forms—runs around the cylinder, forming a decorative frieze that tempers the austerity of metal with the nuanced ornament typical of mid-century modern design.
