ABOUT PRODUCTID 12708
This mid-century modern jug, designed by L. Fiedorowicz and produced in Poland in the 1970s, exemplifies the mature design sensibility of Polish utility glassware from that era. The thick, deeply saturated ruby red glass body features a highly polished, light-reflecting surface. The form is well-balanced: a wide, softly flared base transitions smoothly into a slender neck, finished with a distinct, slightly forward-leaning spout for easy pouring. The separately applied handle, in a warm amber-yellow hue, adopts a semi-circular form that integrates seamlessly into the vessel’s silhouette. Subtle handcraft marks at the handle joints confirm the hand-blown glass technique. The jug is preserved in very good condition – the glass is free from chips, cracks or visible signs of wear, and the colours remain vivid and clear. This jug carries the story of 1970s Polish modernism: a period defined by bold experiments with colour and form, where everyday objects took on an artistic dimension. The ruby red gleams like a contained flame, while the amber handle echoes the optimism and freshness of the time. Shaped with organic and assertive lines, the jug seems to invite conversation – expressing an era when even the simplest glass could embody a manifesto of modernity. The jug may be paired with a simple mid-century wooden sideboard or displayed on glass shelves, where light will enhance its intense colours. It would work well as a central accent piece on a living or dining room table; combining it with minimalist ceramics or hand-formed goblets can highlight its organic pedigree. In a collector’s arrangement, amongst glassware from the 1960s and 1970s, the jug will gain further dimension – whether with a single seasonal flower or left empty as a luminous decorative object in its own right.
