This 1950s vase, made from double-layered glass in a deep cobalt hue, is attributed to German post-war design from the VEB workshops. Its construction is based on a symmetrical, cylindrical body gently tapering at the base, accented with large, high-gloss polished oval and round facets distributed evenly across the surface. These create transparent “windows” within the cobalt glass mass, allowing light to pass through and amplify the interplay of color and transparency. The vase features a cool, saturated blue tone with no additional contrasting colors; all decoration is subordinated to the geometric rhythm of the cut, in line with the mid-century modern style. The vase shows no signs of wear, chips, or restoration – the glass remains pristine, smooth, and glossy, emphasizing its original authenticity and excellent preservation.The concept of this vase reflects a time of dynamic transformation in German utilitarian design, when an emphasis on simplicity of form converged with bold coloration and precise glass craftsmanship.
