ABOUT PRODUCTID 12696
This mid-century modern glass vase originates from the Mstišov Glassworks in Czechoslovakia and is attributed to designer Hana Mahanovska, dating from the 1960s. Crafted from thick, hand-blown glass, its striking organic, teardrop silhouette is capped by a split, gently wavy rim—a form typical of the era’s smooth, unadorned lines. The glossy, clear surface is accented by translucent, vertical bands in pastel tones of yellow-green, pale blue, and lilac-pink, arranged asymmetrically around the vase. These subtle, fluid transitions between colors highlight the craftsmanship of the period and catch the light to create a shifting, iridescent effect. The original manufacturer’s paper label remains on the front, and minor air bubbles are visible in the glass—a hallmark of 1960s handmade production. The vase is in good vintage condition, with no indications of significant damage or restoration. The form quietly recalls the optimism of the 1960s, when color and light merged to shape everyday objects. Its lines and tones evoke a dialogue with nature—a wavy rim, softly tinted waves of color, reminiscent of lakeside reflections or filtered sunlight. Each subtle hue tells of an era fascinated by organic geometry, preferring lightness and fluidity over ornate detail. The substantial glass gives it a solid presence, while the trapped bubbles echo the human touch captured in the crystal of another time. This Hana Mahanovska vase may take pride of place atop an oak sideboard or as the centerpiece of a light-filled cabinet. It works harmoniously in mid-century
