ABOUT PRODUCTID 12686
This glass vase, designed by Josef Hospodka in 1960s Czechoslovakia, embodies the essence of mid-century modern artistry. Its organic, asymmetrical silhouette rises towards subtly undulating rims, with the entire form articulated by sculptural, fluid lines. The body is rendered in a saturated cobalt blue that gradually transitions to transparent glass at the base, revealing both the material’s clarity and substantial thickness. The finish is high-gloss, mirror-like, free of visible seams or decorative overlays, and displays pronounced sculptural protrusions and hollows—features evoking biomorphic inspiration. Three integrated, solid, rounded glass feet provide visual stability and natural cohesion, with no added metal or ornamental hardware. Condition is very good: the surface is free of chips, cracks, or repairs, retaining its original luster. The vase echoes the voice of the 1960s, when Czech art glass entered a phase of bold experimentation and expressive freedom. Its dynamic, richly colored shape suggests glass as a living, plastic medium—arresting color and light in constant flux. Each curve resembles a wave frozen in motion; the shine captures and refracts daylight, as if every moment could imprint a new story onto its surface. It can be displayed on a living room console or sideboard, where natural or directed light will accentuate both the color depth and sculptural texture. The piece pairs well with other mid-century glass or ceramic accents, or with teak or veneered furniture that frames its artistic presence within the interior. In collectors’ settings, it could function as a focal point or as part of
