ABOUT PRODUCTID 14071
This glass vase designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz in the 1970s for the Krakow Glass Institute exemplifies the use of two-layered glassmaking techniques, with a softly translucent yellow core emerging through a semi-opaque, milky white exterior. The silhouette is rooted in mid-century modern traditions—gently rounded shoulders, a body that tapers subtly towards the base, and a gently flared neck. Decorative features include six raised, circular glass medallions with stylized floral patterns arranged in two horizontal tiers around the vessel. The surface is smooth and glossy, effectively reflecting light; the yellow hue remains pastel and gentle, while the white layer appears semi-matte and diffused. No visible imperfections or restoration work are present—the vase is in excellent condition. This object tells the story of 1970s Poland, a period marked by a quest for elegant modernity in everyday objects. The interplay of colors and gentle luminosity echoes the optimism of the era, which designers at the Glass Institute sought to capture through purposeful color design and discreet decoration. The diaphanous yellow seems to embody the promise of spring sunlight, while the medallions discreetly reference the floral motifs cherished in both design and home interiors of the time. Enclosed in a refined form, the vase speaks with the voice of restrained ornamentation and artisanal precision. The vase may be displayed solo on a low, warm-toned wooden sideboard or set against neutral walls to highlight its radiant yellow presence. It could be paired alongside other vessels from the era or placed within a contemporary, eclectic arrangement—among geometric forms, matte ceramics, or minimalist textiles. Suitable for living rooms with a subdued palette, it is also apt for collector’s vintage interiors, where detail and composition play
