ABOUT PRODUCTID 13680
This vase from Kamenický Šenov, Czechoslovakia, dating to the 1950s, showcases mature Czech glassmaking in a mid-century modern style with clear late Art Deco influences. Crafted from cool-toned transparent glass, it features a tulip-shaped profile with a gently flared rim and a low, proportionate foot. The body is textured with vertical ribbing throughout, while hand-painted, stylized floral motifs—green-centered flowers with gold outlines, touched with red against an abstract black linear background—add visual interest. Decorative gilded bands mark the rim, the neck, and the base’s edge, introducing a subdued gloss. The vase has been very well preserved: there are no cracks, chips, or major traces of use, with the gilding and painted decoration largely intact. The form of this vase echoes the voice of a modernizing Czechoslovakia in the mid-20th century—a period where traditional glass mastery met experimentation with texture and color. Its ribbed surface breathes a sense of freshness, while the hand-painted floral motifs intertwined with gold evoke memories of Central European salons filled with winter daylight and the flicker of evening candlelight.
