Designed by Hana Mahanovska for Huta Mstisov in 1960s Czechoslovakia, this vase embodies mid-century modern exploration in art glass. Hand-formed, it presents a teardrop, organic silhouette topped with a gently flared, asymmetrical rim. From one side, light passes through cool, translucent blue; from the other, it reveals vivid green – both hues enveloping a striking core of amber-orange glass. The interplay of colors creates a rich gradient, emphasizing the depth and layered structure unique to this technique. The surface is finished to a flawless, high gloss: perfectly smooth and mirror-bright, accentuating the refraction and clarity of the piece. No decorative patterns interrupt the glass – only the fluid, organic movement of color, in line with mid-century modernist aesthetics. The vase’s substantive weight, thick base, and clarity are all characteristic of period Bohemian studio glass.
