This mocha cup and saucer, produced by the Carl Tielsch porcelain factory in Altwasser (now Stary Zdrój), Silesia, in the late 19th century, exemplifies the refined artistry and craftsmanship of Central European ceramics. The porcelain is notably delicate and translucent, finished with a rich, cool-toned cobalt glaze that provides dramatic contrast for the hand-painted, geometric arrangement of stylized yellow-gold leaves. Each element of the pattern is enhanced by gilded outlines; shimmering gold accents grace all rims, the handle, and the interior of the cup, while the central medallion of the saucer remains white with a finely executed golden rosette, reinforcing the neoclassical roots and emerging Art Nouveau spirit.
