ABOUT PRODUCTID 19399
This mocha cup and saucer set by F. Legrand & Cie from Limoges, dated 1908, is crafted from thin, translucent white porcelain and finished with a glossy glaze. The primary color presents as a cool, pastel blue with gentle gradient transitions to white towards the rim of the cup and center of the saucer, creating an ombre effect. The decoration features a wreath of hand-painted pink roses and green foliage, encircling the upper edge of the cup and along the rim of the saucer—executed in a naturalistic style characteristic of early 20th-century French Art Nouveau. Gilding accents the sculptural, organic handle and rims; these gold highlights display minor wear appropriate for the piece's age, emphasizing its authenticity. Dimensions: the cup stands 6 cm tall and measures 6 cm in diameter at the top, 3.5 cm at the base, and holds 125 ml; saucer diameter is 12.5 cm. Very good condition—no visible cracks or chips, with only light wear to the gilding, congruent with careful use and passage of time. The form of this Limoges cup transports the imagination to the early 20th century, where French Art Nouveau flourished in lightness of line and the organic patterns drawn from nature. The fluid, plant-inspired handle seems to converse with the painted garlands, as if the cup itself
