This Austrian mocha cup and saucer, dating from 1820–1840, exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of the early 19th-century Biedermeier period. Made from fine, thin white porcelain, the set is notable for its delicate construction: the cup, with a maximum width of 6.5 cm (including handle) and height of 5 cm, pairs with a perfectly proportioned saucer measuring 12.5 cm in diameter. The surface serves as a canvas for hand-painted magenta-red fields, intricate arabesques, and organic geometric motifs, all accented with glossy, mirror-like gilding. Thin black outlines articulate the pattern, while the lustrous gold—especially prominent along the rim and handle—reflects light with a subtle gleam.
