ABOUT PRODUCTID 42010
This modernist brooch, designed by Jerzy Szkrabko for the ORNO Artistic Handicraft Cooperative in Warsaw, is an emblematic piece of Polish jewelry design from the 1960s. The circular form, measuring 5.3 × 5.3 × 1.5 cm, is crafted from 0.800 silver and set with seven turquoise cabochons in varying blue-green shades. The brooch resembles a shield, its openwork face decorated with crescent-shaped cut-outs and raised silver and turquoise elements. The composition is robust and sculptural yet appears airy and delicate thanks to the openwork construction. The cool, slightly oxidized silver contrasts with the vibrant turquoise, yielding a bold geometric effect. The reverse bears the maker’s mark and silver hallmark. The piece is preserved in very good vintage condition, displaying only minor surface scratches and gentle signs of age, characteristic for jewelry from this era.The silver of this brooch speaks with the voice of Warsaw’s avant-garde in the 1960s, when originality of form merged with the artisanal tradition of the ORNO
