ABOUT PRODUCTID 16958
This modernist vase from the 1970s, produced by Hortensja Glassworks in Piotrków Trybunalski, exemplifies the synthesis of functional form and expressive ornamentation characteristic of Polish art glass. Its slender cylindrical body, measuring 30 cm in height and 9.5 cm in diameter, is rendered in deeply saturated dark blue, mass-colored soda-lime glass. The central feature of the vase is a wide, metallic silver band with intricate openwork—abstract, radial, and circular motifs that divide the vessel into two rhythmic segments, while a narrow silver rim at the top accentuates the purity of the silhouette. The polished glass surface is smooth and free from scratches or chips, all details are original with no visible repairs—attesting to its very good preserved condition.
The vase embodies the voice of late modernism and Polish mid-century: the cool glass serves as a refined backdrop, while the silver filigree decoration lets light shimmer gently across its surface. In this alternation of minimalism and adornment, the story of the 1970s unfolds—a time when Polish glassworks experimented with color and metallic accents, imbuing everyday objects with a near-jewelry aura. The rhythmic ornamentation here plays both functional and symbolic roles, highlighting the clarity of form and strength of color.
