This vase, designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz for the Krakowski Instytut Szkła in the 1970s, is defined by a bold, voluminous belly that transitions into a slender neck set atop a subtle, low pedestal. The piece stands out for its gradient glass coloration: it moves from a smoky deep violet at the base to a lighter lavender hue toward the neck, demonstrating expert control of material and color. Two pairs of asymmetrical, organically looped handles on opposite sides of the neck add a sculptural accent—their darker, saturated purple shade provides contrast and enriches the visual rhythm of the form. The highly reflective, polished surface amplifies the impression of depth and light, typical of the modernist approach of the era. All elements are original and the glass shows no signs of damage or restoration. Condition: very good. The generous shape and dual handles evoke the spirit of the 1970s and the era’s adventurous glassmaking. Its form seems to recount the innovation of Polish industrial design—color flows seamlessly through the geometry, changing character with every shift in light. The handles emerge from the glass in energetic, almost spontaneous gestures, marrying modernist sculptural intent with a hint of Art Deco dynamism. The vase can be showcased as a standalone piece on a console or open shelf, or combined with contrasting elements—raw ceramics, clean-lined oak surfaces, or sculptural lighting in chrome. It integrates well in contemporary collector interiors, alongside era-appropriate art prints or minimalist textiles in neutral tones. Alternatively, pair it with Murano glass accents or other organic forms from the mid-20th century to create a lively, yet well-balanced vignette.
