ABOUT PRODUCTID 8508
This modular furniture set, designed by Bogusława and Czesław Kowalski in 1961, exemplifies Polish modernism of the 1960s, where functionality meets meticulous craftsmanship. The set comprises six modular elements—two units of three segments each—a large table with a liftable top also suitable for drafting work, and additional components such as a curtain rod and a partition wall of vertical slats. The fronts are crafted from honey-brown wood veneer with a matte finish, featuring a clearly visible grain. Slightly tapered legs and exposed brass connectors and screws accentuate the honest, minimal construction. Modular composition allows for flexible arrangement, with open shelves, closed cabinets, and dividers included. Chairs are upholstered in muted grey fabric, providing a subtle contrast to the wood. The condition is very good: surfaces are smooth, bearing a natural patina and minimal signs of use—wooden elements may require gentle refreshing. The form of these pieces speaks in the language of the 1960s, a time when adaptable solutions were essential for modern living. Minimal lines and an absence of superfluous decoration tell the story of an era when design addressed the everyday needs of families rather than serving as mere ornament. Veneered surfaces with natural wood grain reveal a subtle passage of time
