This original Italian cinema poster from 1964, ‘Le Bambole del Desiderio’ (‘The Strangler’), exemplifies the golden age of Italian movie advertising of the 1960s. Monumental in scale (196 × 140 cm, two-panel construction), it features a matte paper texture and a complex, multi-hued composition created by hand-painted illustration. The palette is dominated by deep browns, blacks, and ochres, punctuated by vivid splashes of red and turquoise. The composition’s centerpiece is a dynamically posed blonde woman in bright turquoise, rendered with realism, while above her looms a large, unsettling eye containing the monochrome face of a man. Typography is bold, yellow, sans-serif, with a distinctive dripping effect that channels suspense and horror.
