ABOUT PRODUCTID 5829
This Neo-Renaissance library bookcase from around 1890 exemplifies the craftsmanship of the late 19th century. Crafted from solid oak, it features a stately, vertical silhouette (height 253 cm, width 165 cm, depth 56 cm), accentuated by bold, spiral barley twist columns and a pronounced cornice adorned with intricately carved floral and fruit garlands. The front consists of double glass doors set within robust frames, showcasing the natural grain and gentle patina of aged oak. The lower panels and drawer are embellished with hand-carved wreaths and fruit clusters, characteristic of Neo-Renaissance ornamental style. Block-shaped, sturdy feet support the substantial structure, while the matte finish with a subtle satin sheen highlights the wood’s richness. Traditional joinery, visible mortise and tenon joints, and meticulous carving affirm the piece’s authenticity. The bookcase remains in very good condition, with only minor wear appropriate to its age and no signs of modern alterations or major damage. It speaks with the voice of the late 19th century, when the revival of Renaissance forms signaled prestige and a reverence for tradition. The spiral columns and carved garlands evoke the interiors of grand residences where books were as much about display as about knowledge. The deep, warm brown of the oak, soft sheen, and gentle patina tell the story of generations past, where every detail—from the meticulously carved wreaths to the softened edges
